9 billion reasons to re-think smarter food solutions

FoodTech Queensland is a national event by the organisers of FoodPro, held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26 to 28 June. Food processing in Australia is a growing industry with increasing potential to create value-added and premium products for world-wide markets.

Food Facility Design Build and Maintain specialists, Wiley will be among the many food industry exhibitors on show as this event. Wiley are keen to share their knowledge, discuss new food industry trends and review the forefront of food technologies. “This helps the food industry, that we are all connected to, perform to its full potential” said Brett Wiskar, Wiley’s Commercial Technology Director.

Visiting Wiley at FoodTech, will also provide the chance to meet Kuka’s KR AGILUS robot – a lightweight, versatile and fast robot that is changing how we process, package and deliver our food.

Mr Wiskar, said “the bot helps food processors improve efficiency, accuracy and safety.” Specially designed for the food sector, the bot excels at performing repetitive movements and working at high speeds with a high degree of accuracy.
It is these attributes that prompted Wiley to feature this technology from global robotic leader Kuka at their stand at FoodTech Qld.

Mr Wiskar, who leads Wiley’s data and technology consulting initiatives, will be a guest speaker in the FoodTech Qld Seminar Program and presenting on the topic ‘9 billion dinner guests – smarter ways to feed the market’ on Monday 27 June at 11am.

He will present how technology, data and innovation can feed the world’s hungry markets.

“The world’s population will reach 9 billion by 2050 and as members of the supply chain that will feed those markets, we have to find smart solutions to tomorrow’s challenges,” he said.

“Our food industry must scale up, control costs and maintain quality at a record pace. New software in data analysis and technology such as the Kuka KR AGILUS is critical to helping us do this.”

Brett Whisker- WileyThe event will take place alongside the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology’s 49th Annual Convention. Fittingly, the theme of this year’s convention is “The Pulse of the Industry”, exploring the latest trends, innovations, technologies, challenges and opportunities.

Visitors are invited to drop in to Wiley’s stand (D27, right beside the bar) to review and discuss the latest in food processing and facility trends and also catch Mr Wiskar’s talk on smarter ways to feed the market.

We will be tweeting live from the event, join the conversation #FoodTechQ16
